WHAT IS INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS (IIA)?
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) was founded in 1941 and is a worldwide professional organization with its headquarters located in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The IIA serves as the global representative for the internal audit profession and is widely recognized as the leading authority, advocate, and educator in this field. Its members specialize in various areas such as internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security.
WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY?
In order to gain approval for admission into the CIA program, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or a higher academic qualification.
- Hold an active Internal Audit Practitioner designation.
- Have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of internal audit.
- Be an active student in the final year of college.
- Be an active student enrolled in an Internal Audit Education Partnership (IAEP) school that has been approved.
* If you don’t meet the above criteria it doesn’t stop you from studying for the CIA. You can take the CIA training program at any time and then apply once you become eligible.
* Candidates can apply to the certification program and take exams before fulfilling the necessary work experience. Nevertheless, certification will only be granted after passing 3 exams, once the experience requirement is fulfilled within the designated program eligibility period. The determination of experience for the CIA’s certification program is contingent upon the chosen entry method.

- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or a higher academic qualification and 2 years Internal Audit experience or equivalent
