IMMIGRATE AS A SKILLED WORKER (EXPRESS ENTRY)
We choose skilled immigrants as permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada and take part in our economy. There is a new system to manage how people with skilled work experience apply to immigrate to Canada. It is called Express Entry.
How does Express Entry work?
Step 1) Potential candidates complete an online Express Entry profile
Potential candidates will complete an online Express Entry profile. This is a secure form that they will use to provide information about their:
• Skills,
• Work experience,
• Language ability,
• Education, and
• Other details that will help us assess them.
Those who meet the criteria of one of the federal immigration programs listed above will be accepted into a pool of candidates.
Step 2) The highest-ranking candidates in the pool will be invited to apply for permanent residence
Candidates will be ranked against others in the pool using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded using the information in their profile.
Candidates with the highest scores in the pool will be issued an invitation to apply. Candidates will be awarded points for:
• A job offer, and/or
• A nomination from a province or territory, and/or
• Skills and Experience factors.
A candidate can get additional points for:
• Qualifying education in Canada
• A valid job offer or
• A nomination by a province or territory
These additional points can make a candidate rank high enough to be invited to apply at the next eligible round of invitations.

Groups of five – Sponsoring refugees
CANADA’S PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP OF REFUGEES FOR DISPLACED SYRIAN AND IRAQI NATIONALS
Under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program, refugees are referred to Canada for resettlement by a private sponsor.
Being a privately sponsored refugee means that a group of five people in Canada has volunteered to help you adjust to life here. Your sponsorship group will help you find a place to live, give you food and clothing and financial support. They have made a commitment to support you for one year after you arrive or until you can support yourself, whichever comes first.
Your sponsor must provide you with this support. You do not need to pay your sponsor for the cost of helping you settle in Canada.
Group of five (G5) is five or more Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have arranged to sponsor a refugee living abroad to come to Canada. All of the group members must be at least 18 years of age and live or have representatives in the area where the refugee will settle.
The group must agree to give emotional and financial support to the refugee(s) for the full sponsorship period-usually one year.
To be eligible, each member of the group five must:
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident,
• Be at least 18 years old
• Live in the same community where the refugee is expected to settle, and
• Agree to give settlement assistance and support for the length of the sponsorship (usually one year).
The group must provide a settlement plan and prove that it has the money to sponsor a refugee for one year. The amount of money needed will depend on how many refugees you sponsor.
After your application has been submitted: get next steps
Once you and your sponsor have completed the application forms, your sponsor will send them to the correct office in Canada. CIC will review the sponsorship portion to make sure that your sponsor meets the criteria to support you.
Once the sponsorship section of your file is approved, it will be sent to a visa office or mission overseas for further processing.

International Students in Canada – A Pathway to Gain Permanent Residency
The number of international students choosing to study in Canada has been on the rise since 2004. Many of those students have options for working during their studies or after they graduate, through the Off-Campus Work Permit Program and the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program.
Advantages to Employers Hiring a foreign student or a recent international graduate is extremely easy. Both the Off-Campus Work Permit and the Post-Graduation Work Permit are open work permits. This means that employers do not need to apply to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) for authorization to hire a foreign national (i.e., a Labour Market Opinion). When employers hire an international student or a recent graduate, it is usually a young person who is forming the skills they will need to be successful in the long term.
Employers who take pride in the quality of training and mentor-ship they provide should find hiring foreign students very appealing. International students and graduates who are gaining experience in Canadian classrooms and workplaces are also an important source of future permanent economic immigrants. By studying and working in Canada, they are already well prepared for the Canadian labour market. During their studies, they may have learned about the latest developments in an employer’s field and bring that knowledge and know-how to the workplace.
With the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Provincial Nominee Program in place, international students or graduates have options if they wish to stay permanently in Canada. Employers may discover that by the time the international graduate employee has become a permanent resident, they have become a truly dedicated employee who will provide many years of service to the organization.
How These Programs Work
Foreign nationals studying full-time at participating publicly funded post-secondary institutions, or in certain programs at private post-secondary institutions, are eligible to apply for an Off-Campus Work.
Permit (OCWP) The OCWP allows foreign students to work for an employer off campus for up to 20 hours a week while class is in session, and full-time during scheduled breaks in the academic calendar.
Foreign nationals who have completed a program of at least eight months at a participating Canadian university or college may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The PGWP allows international students who have completed their studies to work for an employer in Canada for up to three years, depending on how long their course of study was.
Facts and Figures – Why study in Canada?
• More than 354,000 international students entered Canada in 2015, an all-time record.
• New Rankings of National Higher Education Systems in 48 countries: Canada ranks No. 3rd
• Many international students choose Canada over other potential destinations, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and France, because of certain advantages that come with studying in Canada. With quality and more affordable tuition at renowned universities and colleges in safe cities, and employment options both during and after the study period, the decision to study in Canada can be life changing.
• If you add to this list of reasons a clear pathway to permanent resident status and, eventually, Canadian citizenship, studying in Canada becomes an even more attractive proposition. Canada wants students because Canada is all about nation building. Young, intelligent newcomers who have proven they have the credentials and means to assimilate should play a significant role in that. Canada wants students to come here, study, contribute socially and economically, and stay permanently.
• The students are responsible to pay for their initial admission fee to the College depending on various colleges. This fee must be paid to the college before an admission application is submitted.
• Once we have arranged the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Canadian educational institute, we will start preparing application for study permit with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The students will be responsible to pay the study permit government non-refundable fee.
• IELTS – Academic Test – minimum band score of 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking for a Post-secondary program and 6.5 and higher for a Post-Graduate Certificate program is mandatory before an admission is applied for and obtained.
• The first semester fee of about is due and paid directly to the College after admission is granted and before a study permit application is submitted with CIC.
• In case the study permit application is refused by visa officer; the full first semester college fee paid is refundable directly to the student.
